As Mayor Bill Peduto’s administration winds to a close, city officials announced two additional members of the administration are leaving city government.

Philip Savino has served as the assistant director of technology operations in the Department of Innovation and Performance since 2020. He assisted with a major overhaul of network and computer infrastructure, including introducing the city’s first cloud strategy and migrating 80% of the city’s computer infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform.

He also managed a full rewiring, Wi-Fi deployment for unified wireless access and faster connectivity at the City-County Building and started the City’s first unified fiber network, dubbed NETPGH, to unify network location across the city in preparation for future Smart Cities technologies.

Savino’s last day will be Nov. 12. He will then assume a new role as the director of technology for Arapahoe County Government in Colorado.

“I’d like to thank Phil for his service to the City of Pittsburgh,” Peduto said. “In just a short time, he was able to accomplish so many important projects to help grow and support a modernized, 21st-century city and our workforce.”

City officials also announced that Haley Platt will be departing from the mayor’s office. She began working as an intern for the mayor’s office in 2019, before becoming the special assistant to Peduto later that year.

Platt has been responsible for managing Peduto’s day-to-day schedule.

She organized and hosted a four-day Marshall Plan for Middle America kick-off summit with stakeholders from around the region and around the world. She also assisted in writing an executive order allowing the possession of fentanyl test strips.

Platt managed the mayor’s office’s return to work in 2021 and oversaw the office’s internship program.

“It is no easy task to coordinate and manage a complicated schedule, and Haley became the backbone of our office making sure that events and meetings happened smoothly,” Peduto said.

Her last day with the city was Monday.

On Tuesday, she’s set to begin a new position as the government affairs coordinator for the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce and Allegheny Conference on Community Development.
