The Rosedale Volunteer Fire Department has operated with the motto “Neighbor Helping Neighbor” since 1924.

In keeping with that spirit, the Rosedale Civic Association is planning a bingo fundraiser at 7 p.m. March 23 at the Universal Banquet Hall, 2240 Main St., to benefit the 100% volunteer organization.

The goal is to raise enough money to purchase one full protective suit for the department. A full suit — from helmet, hood and coat to gloves, pants and boots — costs more than $6,000. Protective gear has a life expectancy of 10 years, or markedly less, because of wear and tear and exposure to dangerous conditions.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and bingo starts at 7. Tickets are $20 and include six cards for each of 10 regular games with cash prizes. Bingo specials, raffle baskets and food will be available for purchase.

All proceeds will benefit the Rosedale Volunteer Fire Department, Penn Hills Station No. 222.

For details, email the Rosedale Civic Association at rosedalecivicassociation222@gmail.com.
