FBI activity occurred in Penn Hills in the area of Veronica Drive on Thursday.

Authorities were mum on what exactly agents were looking for or investigating in one of Allegheny County’s largest municipalities.

“We were conducting authorized law enforcement activity,” FBI spokesperson Bradford Arick said Thursday afternoon. “There’s no threat to the public. It is connected to an open and ongoing investigation.”

Penn Hills Police Chief Jason Bonace declined to comment on the activity and deferred further questions to the FBI.

He also could not confirm if his officers were involved in the investigation.

No further information was immediately available.
