Youths from Twin Boro Health Ministry at Verona United Methodist Church’s summer camp made memories on a fishing trip to Highland Park.

About 25 people, including the counselors, participated In the camp expedition to the park near the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium on Aug. 1.

The trip was organized by Lower Valley Athletic Foundation and sponsored by the Pittsburgh Let’s Go Fishing organization.

“It’s just something to do for our children rather than them having nothing to do in the summer,” summer camp organizer Shirley Davis said. “It’s better to do that than them on their cellphones or out on the streets just running around. It gives them something to do as a group.”

The summer camp program ran for eight weeks, five days a week, from June 12 through Aug. 4 at the church on Herron Avenue. Participants are in grades one through seven.
