Forgery, drug cases among those recently handled in Judge DeLuca’s Penn Hills court
Penn Hills District Judge Anthony L. DeLuca handled the following cases recently. Defendants will have court dates set in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court. Charges were filed by Penn Hills police unless otherwise noted.
Held for court
• Sylvester Ward, 44, of Indian Trail, NC on charges of forgery and criminal attempt - theft by unlawful taking. Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office filed the charges Aug. 6.
• Renee Jones, 28, of Yukon on charges of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds. Charges were filed Aug. 30.
Waived preliminary hearings
• Nannette Pina, 23, of Penn Hills on charges of driving under the influence, failure to keep right, driving at unsafe speed, reckless driving and accidents involving death or personal injury. Charges were filed Dec. 17.
• Vaughn Rivers, 35, of Penn Hills on charges of tampering with physical evidence, fleeing or attempting to elude officer, possession of marijuana, turning movements and required signals, no rear lights and improper sunscreening. Charges were filed July 24.
• Sequoya Rodgers, 42, of Penn Hills on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of controlled substances. Charges were filed July 25.
Rodgers went before the judge on another case. She waived a preliminary hearing on charges of criminal conspiracy and retail theft. Wilkins police filed the charges Nov. 24.
• Anthony Lofton Jr., 20, of Pittsburgh on charges of receiving stolen property, careless driving, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude officer, three counts of flight to avoid apprehension and four counts of recklessly endangering another person. Wilkins police filed the charges Nov. 9.
