FBI agents took a fugitive into custody as they were executing a search warrant at a Penn Hills home Thursday.

Sean Daniels was the target of an investigation into drug trafficking in Allegheny County, according to federal court documents.

Investigators executed the search warrant at about 12:45 p.m. at a home at 729 Veronica Drive, where they found Daniels.

According to court documents, Daniels was a member of a group that distributes narcotics in and around Pittsburgh and surrounding communities.

He was apprehended after a brief foot chase and an attempt to hide in a bush.

Investigators said Daniels had about $400 in cash on him. A plastic baggie containing about 50 stamp bags of fentanyl was recovered from the bush where Daniels was hiding, authorities said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Daniels on Aug. 20, a day after being federally indicted on gun and drug charges. Charges stem from an incident May 2.

Authorities said they executed a federal search warrant at 3700 Brighton Road in Pittsburgh in May.

Daniels was taken to Allegheny County Jail by state parole agents for a parole violation at that time.

Court documents indicate investigators seized money, about 25 bricks of heroin/fentanyl, a paper plate with crack cocaine, a loaded Glock 17 and a loaded Plum Crazy model M rifle from the home.

Daniels possessed heroin with intent to distribute it in early May, according to court documents.

However, he was released from the state prison in Greene County on Aug. 25 before the jail received his warrant, according to court documents.

Federal authorities filed a request for detention against Daniels on Thursday, calling him a flight risk and a danger to the community.
