The Penn Hills Library, 1037 Stotler Road, offers a variety of programs for all ages.

Registration is required for the following programs unless otherwise indicated; however, the following teen programs do not require registration. To register for any of the programs, visit the website and click on the events tab to view an interactive calendar.
Here are some upcoming highlights:
CHILDREN
• Prada the Therapy Dog (all ages): 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 15. Prada, an American Staffordshire terrier, is an American Kennel Club-licensed therapy dog who loves snuggles and listening to stories. No registration is required.
• Music and Movement (ages 1-4): Meets every Wednesday with three time slots available — 10:30 to 11 a.m., 11:30 to noon and 5:30 to 6 p.m. Come to the library to sing, move, dance and make music together. No registration is required.
• Parachute Play (ages 3-5): 10:30 to 11 a.m. March 10 and 24. Designed for toddlers and their caregivers, this program meets twice a month on Mondays. Join us for creative movement, songs and games with our colorful parachute as we focus on developing gross motor skills, rhythm and social interactions. Registration is required.
• Baby Rhyme Time (birth to age 5): 10:30 to 11 a.m. March 4, 11, 18 and 25. This program meets every Tuesday. Bond with your little one and meet other parents and caregivers as we explore rhythm and rhymes, bounces and books to support early learning. No registration is required.
• Maker Lab … Needle Felting (ages 6-11): 5 to 5:45 p.m. Feb. 27. Participants will learn the fiber art technique of needle felting. Needle felting uses a barbed needle and wool to create 2D and 3D art. Designed for children ages 6-11 with supervision of a caregiver.
• KidzStix Cardio Drumming (ages 6-11): 4:30 to 5 p.m. March 24. Get moving at this high energy drumming and dance program led by certified fitness instructor Coleen Bortz.
TEENS (grades 6-12)
The library offers a variety of books in its Teen Space about college preparation, essay writing, SAT and ACT preparation, and school subjects that can be checked out at any time. Teens also have free access to tutoring help at tutor.com using their library card; instructors are available on a wide variety of school subjects. Teens also have access to language learning resources such as Duolingo and Mango with ther library card. For details, stop by the Teen Space.
• Teen Space Decorating … Origami: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 4. Help us decorate the Teen Space with one-of-a-kind seasonal art.
• Make Your Own Cardboard Aquarium: 3:30 to 5 p.m. March 5. Transform cardboard and paint into a one-of-a-kind aquarium diorama for your desk.
• Learn to Handsew: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. March 10 and 24. Join us throughout the month to learn the basics of sewing.
ADULTS
• Sankofa … The Beauty of African American Cultural Memory: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 3. Learn about sankofa, a concept in traditional West African philosophy that means “return to the past.”
• Game Night: 6:15 to 8 p.m. March 5. Play one of our board games or bring one of your own. Registration is required.
• Scarf Bombardiers: 1 to 2 p.m. March 8. Join the Scarf Bombardiers in making scarves this winter season. Attendees will learn how to make fleece scarves to be distributed to cold people in the Pittsburgh area. Each attendee can make one for themselves. Registration is required.
• Urban Line Dancing: 1 to 2 p.m. March 15. Learn the art of urban line dancing. Open to all abilities. Registration is required.
ALL AGES
• Community Fridge Restock: 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and 11 a.m. to noon Fridays. The fridge and freezer are stocked with fresh vegetables, meal kits, milk and dairy products, juice and more. The pantry shelves include canned goods, snacks and breakfast items, as well as menstrual products and diapers.
• Diapers and Books Giveaway: 4 to 6 p.m. March 19
Free diapers and menstrual products will be distributed during the library’s Community Fridge restock. Visit them in the cafe to learn more and get some products to take home.
