Job Fair

The Municipality of Penn Hills will be hosting a job fair July 31 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Penn Hills Government Center, 102 Duff Road. The event will happen rain or shine.

Employers at the event include UPMC, Giant Eagle, United States Navy and Marines, Penn Hills Police and Fire & EMS, McDonalds, various trade schools and more.

The event is open to all residents and students seeking career options. For more information, call 412-342-1086.

Student news

• Jamie Gatesman and Joslyn Sobek have been named to the spring 2021 College of Arts and Sciences dean’s list at John Carroll University. Students eligible for the dean’s list must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours within one semester and have a quality GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

• Karlee Moyer graduated with a Master of Health Science in health sciences from Lock Haven University in May.

Open house events

Penn Hills School District is hosting open house events this summer for families to visit and tour its schools.

It is on Aug. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the elementary school, 5 to 7 p.m. at Linton Middle School and 6 to 8 p.m. at the high school.

There will be registration tables available at the schools to sign up students for the 2021-22 school year.

Summerfest

The sixth annual Summerfest will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 7 at Friendship Park.

Join for a fun-filled community event featuring music, food trucks, a petting zoo and a free children’s activity area.

Zambelli Fireworks to follow at 9:20 p.m.

Summer Movie Series

The Penn Hills Summer Movie Series is set, with movies beginning at dusk. The event is free to attend each month.

Rolling Hills Church will provide free snacks. The movies to be shown are:

• Aug. 13: “Godzilla vs Kong” at Friendship Park

• Sept. 10: “Spongebob: Sponge on the Run” at Friendship Park.

Class of 1971 reunion

Penn Hills High School Class of 1971 is holding its 50-year reunion Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. at Fox Chapel Marina Baja Bar & Grill

The reunion will feature Hawaiian attire, and there will be a cash bar/menu. A $5-per-person cash donation will be taken at the door to cover reunion expenses.

Women’s Business Network

Women’s Business Network is an award-winning business association that supports the success and growth of women in business. WBN provides members with the tools to be successful, including networking, mastermind groups, and ongoing professional education, while expanding their circle of influence in the marketplace.
