Zoning hearing board

The Penn Hills Zoning Hearing Board will meet at 7 p.m. May 24 in Penn Hills council chambers, 102 Duff Road. An agenda is posted online at pennhills.pa.gov.

Parks and rec volunteers needed

Verona’s Parks and Recreation Committee is looking for volunteers interested in joining. The Borough of Verona’s Parks and Recreation Committee advises the borough council on the goals and objectives of the borough’s parks and recreation programs and serves as a sounding board for the recreational needs of residents.

Bus trip

Beulah Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a trip Aug. 15-16 to Lancaster to see two productions: “Moses” at Lancaster Sight and Sound and “Guys N Dolls” at Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre. Cost is $487 per person, based on a double occupancy room. Trip cost includes two shows, two dinners, one breakfast, one night at the Country Inn of Lancaster, and the roundtrip bus ride.

Tuesday departure is 8 a.m. from Beulah Church; estimated return is Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. To sign up, make check payable to Beulah Presbyterian Church and mail to Beulah Church, 2500 McCrady Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235. Deadline is June 11.

Honor society

Elon University student Briana Fulciniti and Pennsylvania State University student Luisa Peralta Martinez were inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Plant sale

The Crescent Hills Park Plant Sale Fundraiser, featuring annuals and a limited number of perennials, will be held from 9 a.m.-noon May 20 at the park, 141 Sycamore Drive in Penn Hills. Cash only. Proceeds benefit the Crescent Hills Community Park.

PALS

Plum Area Ladies Society is a service /social club open to women from Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville, and surrounding communities. The annual banquet will be held at Jaden’s II from 2- 6 p.m. May 13. Newcomers are always welcome at monthly meetings, held at 6:30 at Plum Community Center on the first Wednesday of the month, September through April.
