Open house events
Penn Hills School District is hosting two open house events this summer for families to visit and tour its schools.
They are on June 24 and Aug. 10.
Times for both are from 4 to 6 p.m. at the elementary school, 5 to 7 p.m. at Linton Middle School and 6 to 8 p.m. at the high school.
There will be registration tables available at the schools to sign up students for the 2021-22 school year.

Student news
l Brianna Kraus, psychology; and Matthew Limbacher, marketing, were named to the dean’s list of Saint Vincent College for the spring 2021 semester. In order to qualify for the dean’s list, a student must achieve a semester GPA of 3.5 or better out of a possible 4.0.
l Bernadette Azinger, Austin Freeman, Emily Graham, Christian Markiewicz, Raleigh Mechling, Samantha Pugliese, Joshua Sabo and Maria Veltre have been named to the dean’s list at Slippery Rock University for the Spring 2021 semester. The dean’s list consists of SRU undergraduate students who earned an adjusted semester GPA of 3.5 or higher, based on a schedule of at least 12 newly attempted and earned credits.
VFD carnival
The Rosedale Civic Association and Rosedale Volunteer Fire Department #2 will have a carnival from June 30 through July 3.
The carnival is from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Rosedale VFD #2, located at 5806 Verona Road, Verona, PA 15147.

Library fundraiser
Penn Hills Library Foundation will offer a fundraising concert with River City Brass Ensemble playing Patriotic-themed selections.
The event will be from 3 to 5 p.m. June 27 in the top parking lot of the library.
Donations are $25 per car and only 45 spaces are available. Tickets can be purchased only at the circulation desk of the library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Payment can be made by cash or check to Penn Hills Library Foundation.
There will be food and beverages available to purchase, and a raffle will be offered. Arrive early so the concert can start on time. Cars can arrive starting at 2:30 p.m.
The rain date is from 6 to 8 p.m. June 29 with arrival time starting at 5:30.

Summerfest
The sixth annual Summerfest will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 7 at Friendship Park.
Join for a fun-filled community event featuring music, food trucks, a petting zoo and a free children’s activity area.
Zambelli Fireworks to follow at 9:20 p.m.
Summer Movie Series
The Penn Hills Summer Movie Series is set, with movies beginning at dusk. The event is free to attend each month.
Rolling Hills Church will provide free snacks. The movies to be shown are:
l July 9: “Tom & Jerry” at Universal Park
l Aug. 13: “Godzilla vs Kong” at Friendship Park
l Sept. 10: “Spongebob: Sponge on the Run” at Friendship Park
Class reunion
The Penn Hills High School Class of 1976 will hold its 45th reunion June 25-27.
There will be a buffet dinner at 7 p.m. June 25 at the Comfort Inn Grand Ballroom, 180 Gamma Drive. Tickets are $45 each until May 21. Rooms are $80 each at the group rate.
On June 26, the class is gathering from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Rosedale Beach Club, 5407 Third St., to swim and socialize.
Nonmembers can enter as guests for $5. No advanced ticket or reservations are needed.
On June 27, there will be a live band and cash bar at the Fox Chapel Baja Club from 1 to 6 p.m.
The Nieds Hotel Band, a Penn Hills-rooted band, will be holding a fundraiser. A voluntary donation is suggested at the door.
Women’s Business Network
The Women’s Business Network is an award-winning business association that supports the success and growth of women in business. All professional women are welcome to attend a meeting at no cost. l The Monroeville Chapter holds meetings on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. The next meeting will be June 23 and will feature a two-part event that includes a virtual morning meeting and an outdoor, socially distanced tour of two historic houses built in the early 1800s that will include a boxed dinner.
