Yard waste collection
Penn Hills will pick up leaves and yard waste on April 10. All bags must be curbside on Sunday evening. Acceptable materials include leaves, garden residue (this includes flowers and plants with no roots attached), shrubbery and tree trimmings less than a half inch in diameter (also no roots). For more information, visit pennhillspa.gov. The above items can also be dropped off at the compost site throughout the year by making an appointment with Public Works at 412-798-2151.
PALS
Plum Area Ladies Society is a service /social club open to women from Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville, and surrounding communities.
The annual banquet will be held at Jaden’s II from 2-6 p.m. May 13.
The last Ladies Day Out will be a flower- planting and wine and food sampling at Bygone Wines in Plum at 2 p.m. April 22. Call 412-744-4613 to reserve your space. The $35 charge will include beautiful flowers and tin, plus instructions on planting.
Newcomers are always welcome at monthly meetings, held at 6:30 at Plum Community Center on the first Wednesday of the month, September through April. For more information, call Mary Lou at 724-327-8265.
Plum AARP
Plum AARP will hold its April meeting at Unity Community Church Cafe at noon April 11. The program will be a Fundraiser Sweet Bingo — four games for $1 with sweet treats as prizes. Members will be able to purchase tickets for the May Luncheon, a buffet at Palmieri’s on May 9, for $28 at the meeting.
Plum AARP is a social club open to residents of Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville and surrounding communities. Each meeting features free cake and coffee and a speaker, program or entertainment, as well as the opportunity to make new friends. Community dinner
Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish will hold a free Easter Dinner from 1:30-3:30 p.m. (or until the food is gone) on April 9 at 245 Azalea Drive in Monroeville. For more information, visit christthedivine shepherd.org.
