The Ladies Spigno Saturnia Society held its Annual Mother’s Day Party at Pugliano’s Italian Grill in Plum on May 7.

Each year, the event honors members past and present who have belonged to the organization since 1938. The society spotlights the Spignese nationality of Saturnia, Italy. The Pittsburgh area has men’s and women’s chapters.

At this year’s event, club president Mary V. Zottola received the Joseph B. Natoli Community Achievement Award. Zotolla is a life-long Penn Hills resident. She and her husband own John Zottola Landscaping, Inc.

Zotolla joined LSSS in 1986 and has served as president for the past 22 years.

Additionally, the first Mary V. Zottola Scholarship Award, which is dedicated to the ongoing higher education of a society member, their child or grandchild, was awarded to Marina Manuppelli of Mars, who is attending Sherman College of Chiropractic in South Carolina.
