Two Verona council incumbents and two others appear to have earned Democratic nods for four seats while one incumbent might not have made the cut.

Incumbent Raymon Suchevich would need all 18 write-in votes in order to edge out fellow council member Nancy Carpenter for the party nomination for four seats, according to complete but unofficial returns from the Allegheny County Elections Division.

Suchevich earned 190 votes to Carpenter’s 207 at the May 18 primary.

The top vote-getters were challenger Vince Flotta with 243, appointed councilwoman Patricia Hredzak-Showalter at 233 and challenger Rhoda Worf with 222.

Voter turnout was listed at just above 50% with a total of 1,113 votes cast.

There were no Republicans listed on the primary ballot. However, there were 182 GOP write-in votes for council.

Mayor David Ricupero ran unopposed on the Democratic nomination ticket. He will have to await the announcement of a challenger. There were no Republicans listed on the primary ballot, but 55 write-in votes were cast.
