A man was shot and killed Friday night while sitting in his vehicle at a gas station in the 4900 block of Allegheny River Boulevard in Penn Hills, authorities said.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the man as 34-year-old Dante Benjamin Jones of Pittsburgh.

Allegheny County Police said the shooting happened around 7:15 p.m. at the Exxon gas station.

Responding officers found Jones sitting inside his vehicle, police said.

Allegheny County Police Lt. Venerando Costa told Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV that the man had been sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle “when the suspect pulled up and shot him multiple times through the window of his vehicle.”

Jones was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital where he died.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to call the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS (255-8477).
