1 injured in Penn Hills house fire

One person was taken to the hospital Monday evening following a duplex fire in Penn Hills.

TribLive news partner WTAE said the fire was reported shortly before 11:30 p.m. on the 400 block of Hochberg Road.

Hoarding conditions were encountered at the scene, according to the Penn Hills Number 7 Volunteer Fire Company.

The Penn Hills Fire Marshal will investigate the cause.

Vehicle catches fire in Penn Hills

A vehicle caught fire Monday evening in Penn Hills, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.

The Penn Hills Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire in the 7300 block of Saltsburg Road.

There were no injuries reported for the person operating the vehicle.

Police seek help on fatal 2022 Swissvale shooting

The Allegheny County Police Department said detectives are continuing to ask for the community’s help in identifying the shooter in an unsolved 2022 Swissvale homicide.

Chanel Palmer, 31, of Pittsburgh was found fatally shot Dec. 28, 2022, inside a car in Swissvale.

After police responded to the 2200 block of Hawthorne Avenue for a report of shots fired, an adult male arrived at the Swissvale police station with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the department’s Facebook post.

Detectives believe an unknown suspect approached the vehicle while it was parked and opened fire, the post said.

Surveillance videos show the suspect walking from Hawthorne Avenue to Highland Avenue, and at the intersection of Milligan Avenue and Juniata Street — where the suspect was seen dropping an object in the sewer drain. The gun used in the shooting was later recovered from that drain by detectives, police said.
