New vendors and opportunities helped mark Opening Day 2022 for the weekly Verona Farmer’s Market.

People who visited the market along Railroad Avenue on June 2 were able to meet Jessica Fischoff of the Growing Hour, a plant business in Blackridge. She had pepper plants, flowers and more.

Fischoff said she was excited for the opportunity to meet new people and grew her side business.

Bloomview Farm in Plum also had flowers for sale.

Ronni Weiss of Ronni Weiss Music in Pittsburgh performed for patrons and vendors on opening day. She has been a part of the market the past few years.

“I enjoy it a lot,” she said. “Sometimes there are more vendors there were at the last time. It’s a very nice market. Everybody’s receptive. Everyone’s nice. It’s a good location, very pretty.”

Only a handful of vendors participated on opening day because of inclement weather, but more will be on hand as the summer progresses. Other businesses included Tom’s Candy, Waffle Pizza food truck, Designs by Becca and Cunning House Supply Co.

The market is open 2-7 p.m. Thursdays through Nov. 17 in the park next to the borough building, 736 E. Railroad Ave.
