Penn Hills magisterial district court closes after employee tests positive for covid-19

The magisterial district court in Penn Hills will be closed through July 17 because an employee tested positive for covid-19.

Angharad Stock, an Allegheny County deputy court administrator, said the staff member, one of four, tested positive for the coronavirus on July 5. Stock did not give any specific information about the staff member.

Court payments can be mailed to the district court that issued the bill, according to a court record that outlined a judge’s order to close the court. Payments can also be made online.

Civil and landlord/tenant actions can be filed atMagisterial District Judge Thomas Caulfield’s office at 371 Lincoln Highway in North Versailles.

The positive covid-19 case at the Penn Hills district court is one of six cases recently reported in the Allegheny County court system.

There are three people within Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr.’s office that have recently contracted the virus.
