A Penn Hills man faces a dozen criminal charges after he allegedly assaulted the mother of his two children, and the children, outside of the Family Court Center in Downtown Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Charges against Marlon McMillan, 36, include aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of children, according to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say that, when McMillan was leaving the Family Court Center on Wednesday following a protection from abuse hearing, he began to yell at the mother of his two children and the children, while walking along Forbes Avenue. The children are pre-teens, according to a criminal complaint.
McMillan tried to convince the two children to leave their mother and go with him, the complaint said.
The woman and the children tried to cross Forbes Avenue to get away from McMillan, the complaint said.
The woman pulled a gun from her purse and held it with the nozzle toward the ground, the complaint said. She told deputies she did so because she feared for her own life and safety, and that of her children.
McMillan hit the woman and one of the children and grabbed the second child by the neck, the complaint said.
The woman and the children received medical attention at the scene, deputies said. McMillan was taken to the Allegheny County Jail for arraignment.
