The two teenaged girls abducted at gunpoint in Penn Hills on Oct. 14 and found later that evening were not targeted randomly, Allegheny County police said.

After the girls, both age 17, were found unharmed in Brighton Heights around 5 p.m., a car was found in Oakland by University of Pittsburgh Police. The white Dodge Charger was found around 11:30 p.m., police said.

Police said the car was taken into custody. That’s when police determined the abduction was not random, but could not release any further information.

Penn Hills police Chief Howard Burton said the teens were abducted near Grove and Lincoln roads around 11:15 a.m. that day.

At the time, officers were looking for three suspects in two sedans, one red and one white .

Allegheny County police, who have taken the lead on the investigation, did not offer information about a red car.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Penn Hills police at 412-342-1188 or the county police tipline at 833-ALL-TIPS.
