Penn Hills police and the FBI are investigating a robbery of the Dollar Bank at Penn Hills Shopping Center on Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the same man may have robbed a Monroeville bank last month.

Police Chief Howard Burton said a man wearing all blue clothing and a gaiter mask went into the branch off Rodi Road around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

He showed a teller his phone with a message about having a gun and robbing the place, the chief said.

The man walked out with an undisclosed amount of money and took off down the road.

No one was injured in the incident. The bank was closed as detectives continued their investigation.

The suspect was described as a black man standing about 6 feet tall with a thin build. His right hand was wrapped in bandages.

Burton said investigators believe him to be the same man who robbed a Citizens Bank in Monroeville in late August.

Anyone with information about the Penn Hills incident can contact police at 412-342-1188.
