A Penn Hills man wanted on assault charges was in possession of fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine when he was pulled over for a traffic stop on Tuesday night, according to police.

Iedoniae K. Cole, 29, of Newfield Road in Penn Hills was pulled over just before 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday on the 1800 block of Leechburg Road. He is wanted in connection with a Feb. 18 incident in Braddock on charges of simple assault and endangering the welfare of children, according to court records.

Police said Cole was in possession of powdered fentanyl, counterfeit 30mg Percocet pills made from fentanyl, and crystal meth.

Cole told police he was aware of the February warrant, but “thought it was vacated,” according to a criminal complaint.

He also told police he had additional fentanyl and weapons at his home on Newfield Road. A subsequent warrant turned up two guns, more fentanyl and counterfeit pills, marijuana and crystal meth, according to court documents.

He was arraigned Wednesday morning and charged with four counts of drug possession and two counts of illegal possession of firearms. A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. March 7 in District Judge Anthony DeLuca’s Penn Hills court.

Cole is also scheduled for a March 9 preliminary hearing in Judge Thomas Brletic’s McKeesport court, on charges from the original arrest warrant.

An attorney for Cole was not listed in court records.
