Verona council has new president, vice president
Verona council has a new president, vice president and some new members to start this year.
Dave Matlin was appointed head of the table, and Joseph Warren was appointed second in command.
Matlin served as vice president last year. Warren was appointed in July to fill the seat vacated by Michael Forbeck, who resigned to take a job in state government.
He then successfully won a race for a two-year term in November.
Newcomer Vince Flotta, incumbents Trish Hredzak-Showalter and Ray Suchevich and former councilwoman Rhoda Worf each won four-year seats as did Mayor David Ricupero.
The recently elected leaders were sworn in Jan. 3 by Penn Hills Magistrate Anthony DeLuca.
Council also unanimously voted to retain a variety of professional services.
Christine DeRunk remains borough secretary, Craig H. Alexander of Bruce Dice and Associates as solicitor and Matthew Pitsch and Senate Engineering as consulting engineer.
Council work sessions are the last Tuesday of the month and voting meetings are the second Tuesday of the month.
Both are at 7 p.m. at the borough building, 736 E. Railroad Ave.
