Verona farmers market under new management, season starts Thursday
Verona’s farmers market is under new management and about to start a new season.
Verona Chamber of Commerce marketing director Patty Thomas stepped down as market coordinator citing personal reasons. Chamber board member Stefani Garibay will take over the role.
“Patty did a wonderful job,” Garibay said. “She did all the legwork, and we’re hoping to continue to make it better.”
Opening day is Thursday, June 6 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the park along East Railroad Avenue by the borough building.
The market will be held Thursdays through Oct. 24. There are plans to possibly extend it to Halloween.
Between 15 to 20 vendors are expected to participate each evening.
“We’re going to try to do some food vendors throughout the month instead of just the end of the month when we do the food truck roundup,” Garibay said. “It won’t be as big (as the roundup), but we could get one or two to try to attract people.”
One new vendor this year is Oakmont Candle Works, which offers hand-poured and hand-packed scented items.
Other vendors include Schramm Farms & Orchards, Park Street Treats, Homemade Gifts by Diane, Pappy’s Kettle Corn, Great Harvest Bread, Woodcrafts by Larry, Mobile Munchies, Designs by Becka, Baked With Love, Tom’s Candy Co. and KDog’s-n-Nat.
Thousands of people are expected to visit the borough throughout the market’s season.
“It always seems to be very busy, very fruitful for all the vendors,” Garibay said. “I don’t think there’s been an empty day the last two years. It helps the small businesses earn a little bit more money. It gives that feel of community. You see your neighbors and friends and people from the other town over.
“It brings everybody together.”
