Doug Duke of Plum drops his Christmas tree off at the Boyce Park recycling site near the wave pool in 2017. Murrysville-Export Rotary officials will be accepting trees for recycling on Jan. 5 and 12, 2019.

Verona residents looking to dispose of their old Christmas trees are encouraged to do so through Allegheny County’s recycling program.

Trees can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to dusk at nine regional county parks through Jan. 14.

Verona Chamber of Commerce officials said the borough’s annual tree burning event was stopped years ago, and the county’s recycling program is more environmentally friendly.

Tree recycling locations are as follows:

Boyce Park: Soccer fields parking lot

Deer Lakes Park: Veterans Shelter parking lot

Harrison Hills Park: Parking lot at intersection of Chipmunk Drive and Cottontail Drive

Hartwood Acres Park: Mansion parking lot

North Park: Swimming pool parking lot

Round Hill Park: Alfalfa Shelter parking lot

Settlers Cabin Park: Wave pool parking lot

South Park: Wave pool parking lot

White Oak Park: Chestnut Shelter parking lot

Murrysville: Windstream building, 4792 Old William Penn Highway. Murrysville-Export Rotary Club will accept trees at the parking lot from 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., Jan. 5 and 12.
