Volunteers are wanted for the upcoming biannual Verona Cleanup Day.

Organized by Luke and Kathy Mattocks for at least 15 years, the next big cleanup is set for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 27.

Participants are to meet up around 9:45 a.m. for maps and supplies at the borough building, 736 E. Railroad Ave.

“We cover the whole borough,” Luke Mattocks said. “We do the railroad tracks. We do focus on trouble sports and have a few streets that get more litter than other streets.

“Even if you don’t know Verona, we could still use your help.”

Verona cleanups take place twice a year, one in the spring and another in the fall.

Kathy Mattocks said the fall event tends to have more people, and hopes at least 15 come out this weekend.

“It really is impactful,” she said. “Those two hours make a big difference.”

Light refreshments will be served at the start.
