Week in Review: Top stories from the Penn Hills area for the week of Nov. 16
Here’s a quick look into the news that happened in Penn Hills and Verona from Nov. 16 to 20.
• A Penn Hills Council meeting was hijacked by callers spewing racial slurs and vulgarity on Nov. 16. The municipality’s IT director had to kick off more than five callers in order to get the comments to stop.
• Later in the same meeting, residents spoke up about the municipality’s proposed $34 million budget, which faces a Dec. 21 vote by council. A property tax hike has not been suggested or recommended.
• Verona officials hope to hold the line on real estate taxes in 2021. The budget remains balanced at $3.1 million.
• Adam Rosenberg of Fox Chapel pleaded not guilty in Pittsburgh court Friday. He faces charges related to the killing of Christian Moore-Rouse of Verona. Moore-Rouse was last seen alive Dec. 21. His remains were found near Rosenberg’s parents’ house in Fox Chapel on March 3. An autopsy report found Moore-Rouse died from a gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a homicide.
