Penn-Trafford area: Bingo, chicken dinner, senior meeting and more
Bingo set for St. Regis Church
The Knights of Columbus will sponsor a bingo at 1 p. m. Sept. 26 at St. Regis Church, 517 Homewood Ave., Trafford.
The door fee is $15 for 20 regular games.
There will be optional special games and a $150 jackpot guaranteed for special cover-all bingo.
Food will be available for purchase.
Bushy Run Lion Club to sell barbecue chicken
The Bushy Run Lion Club will host a barbecue chicken meal fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 26, or until sell-out, at the Bushy Run Lions Community Building, Church Street, Claridge.
Due to the coronavirus, the dinners will be served as take-out only.
The $10 meal includes coleslaw, roll, cookies and drink.
Members of Boy Scout Troop 239 and Girls Scouts from BSA Troop 1239 will assist the Lions.
Tickets are available from any Lion or by calling 724-744-3233. A limited amount of tickets will be available at the door.
Penn Township seniors meet at Community Church
The Penn Township Senior Citizens will meet Sept. 28 at Community Church, 3487 Route 130, Harrison City.
Lunch is $6 and will be served at 1 p. m. The meeting will be held at 2 p. m. Dues are $2.00.
Entertainment will be provided by ventriloquist Cindy Speck.
Come, Talk to hold creative writing classes
Come, Talk Inc. of Irwin, an initiative dedicated to improving mental health and suicide prevention, will hold creative writing classes on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at its office inside the Norwin Chamber of Commerce, 321 Main St., Irwin.
The classes are open to teens and adults. Drinks and a snack will be provided. Bring a journal or notebook and pen or pencil. Please RSVP by the day before the class. Walk-ins welcome if seats are available.

The Bushy Run Lions Club presented scholarships to two 2021 Penn-Trafford graduates: Madalyn A. Cantini, daughter of Alex and Teresa Cantini of Harrison City, and Daniel Newsome, son of Jeffrey and Serena Newsome of Penn Township.
Cantini received the Carl R. Bruno Scholarship, named in honor of the late Carl Bruno, a longtime Lion Club member and the first superintendent for the merged Penn Township and Trafford School District. Cantini is attending West Virginia University, where she plans to study elementary education.
Newsome received the Terry R. Perich Scholarship, named in honor of the late Terry Perich, a longtime Bushy Run Lions Club supporter and educator in the Penn-Trafford School District. Newsom is attending Penn State University, where he is studying mechanical engineering.
