Playgrounds get communication boards
New playground communication boards, which help students who have difficulty communicating to express themselves during play time, have been installed at each of Penn-Trafford’s elementary school playgrounds.
Sarah Loughner, a speech-language pathologist at Penn-Trafford, spearheaded the project. The district provided the funding and the signs were installed by the Penn Trafford Area Recreation Commission.
Level Green senior citizens to meet
The 2 Guys will provide entertainment when the Level Green Seniors meet at 11 .m. Sept. 16 at the Lions Community Building, Murrysville Road, Level Green.
Lunch will include ham and cheese, potato salad and dessert. New members are welcome.

P-T to honor military personnel, first responders and faith leaders
Penn-Trafford is inviting military personnel, first responders and faith leaders and their guests to a reception prior to the home football game against Peters Township at 7 p.m. Sept. 17.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. A light dinner will be served in Penn-Trafford’s end zone tent. Following a pre-game recognition, guests may watch the game from inside Warrior Center or the stadium.
Those attending should park in the upper lots. There are a limited number of handicapped spaces available in the lower lot.

Backpacks-To-Go Program gets donations
Penn-Trafford’s Backpacks-To-Go Program received donations from two local organizations: the Community Church along Route 130 in Harrison City and Express Employment Professionals.
The church, under the leadership of Senior Pastor Seth McPherson, held a back-to-school drive to collect supplies including backpacks, crayons, pencils, pens, folders, glue, and scissors.
Penn-Trafford grad Cassie Armstrong organized a back-to-school drive to collect supplies at Express Employment Professionals along Route 130 in the Penn Township Plaza, The business donated backpacks, binders and earbuds.
Manor Lions Club to sell barbecue chicken
The Manor Lions Club will sell a chicken barbecue meal in the parking lot of Roberts Roofing, Route 993 in Manor, on Sept. 11.
The meal consists of one-half chicken, roll, applesauce, cookie and drink for $8.
All proceeds go to Lions Club charities.
