Bushy Run Market resumes at battlefield site
The Bushy Run Market featuring a collection of crafters and vendors who sell their wares the fourth Sunday of the month from April through September will return to the Bushy Run Battlefield site along Route 993 in Penn Township on April 23.
The gates will open at 7 a.m. for vendors and there is no preregistration requirement or setup fees. It is open to the public from 8 a.m. to noon and admission is free.
The Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society sponsors the event and will accept donations to help cover costs of administration and educational programs. There will be free coffee and tea at the market, provided by the society.

P-T Community Band will perform benefit concert
The 65-member Penn Trafford Community Band will perform a benefit concert at 3 p.m. May 1 at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin.
All proceeds will benefit The Lamp.
The community band’s spin-off group, the 20 piece Jazz Warriors Big Band, also will play, said Ron Rometo, the founder and manager of the community band.
The Jazz Warriors Big Band, under the direction of Paul Lawrence, plays a variety of music from popular big band and jazz standards, to swing, Latin, funk, and even a few jazz rock favorites. The community band, under the direction of Doug Skoretz, plays stirring marches, patriotic and inspirational numbers, television and movie themes, musicals, light jazz, classic rock and a classical piece, Rometo said.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors and can be purchased by calling 412-367-4000, at the theater or online at www.lamptheatre.org.
Bushy Run Lions plan barbecue chicken sale
The Bushy Run Lions Club will sell barbecue chicken dinners from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. April 24, or until sell-out, at the Lions Community Building, Church Street, Claridge.
The meal costs $12 and includes a half chicken, coleslaw, roll, cookies and a drink.
Customers are asked to use the drive-thru service. All meals are sold as take-out only.
Tickets are available from any Lion or by calling 412-629-3000. A limited amount of tickets will be available at the door.
Proceeds benefit various Lions programs.
