Penn-Trafford area: Community concert, school supply collection, women's club meets
Free community concert at municipal park
The Penn Trafford Community Band will perform a free concert by the pond at the Penn Township Municipal Park in Harrison City at 7 p.m. Aug. 5.
The Community Band plays marches, patriotic and inspirational tunes, television and movie themes, light jazz, classic rock and polkas.
Those attending can bring a lawn chair or blanket. For more information, call 724-309-2000.
Local business collecting school supplies
A Penn Township business is seeking donations of school supplies to help needy students in Jeannette.
Express Employment Professionals is collecting glue sticks, crayons, markers, folders, pens, pencils and notebooks through Aug. 12 at its office east of Harrison City, at Suite 300, 4012 Route 130.
Cassie Armstrong, front office coordinator for Express Employment, said she is working with Lindsay Schulte, who operates the Jeannette McKee School Closet in the McKee Elementary School. The closet is open to students and parents who need supplies throughout the school year.
Level Green women’s group to meet
The Community Women’s Club of Level Green will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Level Green Lions Club Community Building, 123 Murrysville Road.
Any woman age 21 or older is welcome to attend.
