Women’s club welcomes new members

The Community Women’s Club of Level Green is hosting a new member social at 7 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Level Green Community Building, 123 Murrysville Road.

The theme is “Step into Margaritaville.” Dinner will be provided and there is no cost to attend.

Any woman age 21 years and older and interested in community service in Penn Township is invited. Those interested in attending should RSVP by contacting Laurie by email at cts72@hotmail.com or by texting Irene at 412-818-1124 by Aug. 12.

The volunteer organization hosts and promotes a variety of annual philanthropic programs, including: Safety Town for kindergarten children, a Christmas tree recycling program, scholarship program for Penn Trafford High School seniors, Light Up Level Green, a fall food drive and annual roadside cleanups.

Military food distribution set

Norwin Elks is set to host a Military Share Food Distribution program Aug. 26.

The event, scheduled for 9:30 am to 12:30 p.m., is being held in conjunction with the White Oak Vet Center and the Westmoreland County Food Bank.

Veterans as well as active-duty military, including the National Guard and reserve personnel, are welcome at the event, which will be held at the Norwin Elks Lodge, 135 Elks Lane, Manor.

Registration must be completed by Aug. 9 by calling the White Oak Vet Center at 412-678-7704.

Manor Lions Club holding barbecue sale

The Manor Lions Club is having a chicken barbecue sale 11 a.m. to sell-out on Aug. 14 on Route 993 in the parking lot of Roberts Roofing.

A 1/2 chicken, applesauce, roll, cookie and a drink is $8.

Lutheran Church hosts flea market

The Paintertown Lutheran Church will hold a flea market from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Learning Center, 2036 Paintertown Road, Penn Township.

Golf for Grace fundraiser slated

The Golf for Grace event to support the Reflections of Grace Foundation, which raises money to help fight childhood cancer, will be held Sept. 4 at The Madison Club, 519 Yukon Road, Madison.

Registration begins at 1 p.m. and shotgun start is at 2 p.m. Golfers can enter individually or by foursomes.

The outing will be played under an 18-hole scramble format with several competitions, including:

• Team competition with prizes given to the top three foursomes.

• Individual challenges such as longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt.

The $125 per golfer registration fee covers green fees, cart and dinner.

The deadline for registering is Aug. 28. Checks should be made payable to the Reflections Of Grace Foundation, P.O. Box 298, Irwin, PA, 15642.
