Lt. Jeremy Mock, a Navy logistics officer, recently participated in Exercise Phoenix Express 2021. The 16th iteration of the North African maritime exercise involving 11 nations was held from May 17 to 28, in Tunisia and throughout the Mediterranean Sea.
Mock, a Penn Borough native, is 1997 Penn-Trafford High School graduate. He graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2002, and is a 2014 St. Joseph’s University graduate.
“It’s a tremendous honor to partner with the countries during these exercises and apply real-world logistics,” Mock said.
Heather Farrell of Trafford, a Penn-Trafford graduate, graduated from Virginia Tech’s computer engineering school. She will begin working at Lockheed-Martin in New Jersey.
Jon D. Nicassio, son of Jennie E. Nicassio and Mark Buccilli, recently received his medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Nicassio is a 2011 graduate of Penn Trafford High School. He underwent his pre-medical studies at the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg campus. While at UPG, he was an EMT for Penn Township and Excela Westmoreland Hospital’s emergency department. Nicassio will begin his three-year residency at Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital, specializing in family medicine.
Penn-Trafford High School inducted new members of the Spanish National Honor Society in May: Jalyn Adams, Paige Baker, Brooke Banda, Talitha Brobst, Nicholas Crum, Alexis Dindak, Patrick Driscoll, Nicholas Freilino, Mason Frye, Alexander Kana, Taylor Kingerski, Jude Lovre, Sydney Marchand, Alexis Nash, Juliana Paliscak, Annarose Pipak, Kylie Reisz, Maya Roman, Mya Simpson, Caitlin Spadone, Skye Tanyer, Jocelynn Tatters, Kayleigh Thompson, Michael Vislosky and Abigayle Weagraff.
Madison Zupancic and A.J. Keiper, eighth graders at Queen of Angels Catholic School in North Huntingdon, won the American Legion Award, which is presented to one male and one female student who best exemplify the qualities of honor, Americanism, service, leadership, scholarship and courage. John Koller presented these awards on behalf of the American Legion.
