Penn Area Library plans puppet show

Penn Area Library in Penn Township will host a puppet show for children, performed by the Children’s Institute, from 1 to 2 p.m. June 16.

Titled “Kids on the Block,” the puppet show teaches children about conditions such as cerebral palsy, blindness and deafness. Register online or by calling the library, 724-744-4414.

Adult painting classes will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on June 19, July 19 and Aug. 21. All artistic abilities are welcome. Call the library to register.

The library will host a Puzzle-Paluzzo from 1 to 3 p.m. on June 20. Adults and teens will work alone or in teams of two to assemble a puzzle in an hour. The first groups to complete their puzzle will receive a reward.

The library is located at 2001 Municipal Court.

Food truck, music

The Penn-Trafford Area Recreation Commission will host a food truck and music event from 6 to 9:30 p.m. June 20 at Municipal Park.

Musical entertainment will be provided by local rock band Who’s Debbie, which specializes in 70s classics. Blazzin Hibachi on Wheels, Mediterranean Tastes LLC, Kona Ice and Sooo Delicious will be among the food trucks available.

Kickball, cornhole and fishing the park pond will also be available to attendees.

Greensburg art exhibits

The Greensburg Art Center’s latest exhibit at the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library will be on display until July 29.

The exhibit, titled “The Figure Drawing Artists of Greensburg,” was installed June 4. It is open for viewing during library hours — 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The library is located at 237 S. Pennsylvania Ave. in Greensburg.

The Westmoreland Museum of American Art is opening an interactive maze exhibit on June 13.

The exhibit transforms the museum’s large gallery space into a maze of artwork painted by local artists. Each section of the maze features a mural inspired by works of art on display at the museum.

Challenges and games are included along the maze, and attendees can participate in a scavenger hunt to find the artwork that inspired the maze. Admission is free for members and children 3 years old and younger. It is $10 for nonmembers and 45 per person for groups of 10 or more.

The exhibit will be on display until Aug. 17. The museum, at 221 N. Main St. in Greensburg, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday; noon to 7 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
