P-T robotics teams win

Five robotics teams from Penn-Trafford High School will compete in the Western Pennsylvania State Tournament at Clarion University on March 12.

The five teams qualified for the regional tournament by winning in the North Allegheny 5th Annual Robotics Tournament. The goal was to build, program and drive robots on a 12-foot square playing field to collect goals and balance them on a large see-saw type goal. Each two-minute round began with a 15 second autonomous period during which the teams pre-programmed the robot movements. In the remaining time, team members drove their robots via remote control.

The Penn-Trafford team of Ean Smith, Alec Gilmore and Jason Pernick received awards for tournament champion, skills champion and design.
