Bushy Run Lions Club plan broom sale

The Bushy Run Lions Club will hold its annual roadside broom sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 16 though 18 in the parking lot of the S&T Bank, Route 130, Harrison City.

Various types of brooms will be available, including household, kids’ brooms, snow and garage brooms and push brooms.

The money raised goes to Lions Charities. The brooms are available at other times of the year by contacting any Lions Club Member.

P-T seeks past homecoming kings, queens

As part of the 50th anniversary of the merger between Penn Joint and Trafford high schools, a committee of Penn-Trafford alumna are planning to recognize the past homecoming kings and queens during the school’s homecoming parade and football game on Oct. 8.

Penn Area Library plans fall programs

The Penn Area Library at the Penn Township Municipal Complex in Harrison City is planning several programs:

Story time, featuring songs and crafts, will be held on Mondays.

Every Tuesday, a virtual story time will be held via Zoom, with reading, crafts and sing-alongs.

Pre-K Picassos will meet every Thursday. Tots ages 2 to 5 can create their own mini-masterpiece by practicing their fine motor skills using fingers, cotton balls, paintbrushes and toy cars.

Young Artist’s Club for children ages eight and older will meet Sept. 23 with a focus on Picasso and his technique of breaking down his subjects into geometric shapes, then reassembling the pieces. Participants will make their own Picasso portrait.

Other programs include a young adult book club and adult novel book club.
