Trafford library to hold summer reading program

The Trafford Community Public Library, 414 Brinton Ave., will hold an in-person story time for children ages three to eight each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from June 2 - Aug. 25.

The National Library Summer Theme is Tales and Tails, so there will be a focus on animals and adventures.

Weather permitting, the children will meet outside, but will be inside on rainy days.

Parents are requested to stay during the program. All Centers for Disease Control guidance for wearing masks and practicing social distancing will be observed.

Children and teens are encouraged to participate in the National Library Summer Reading Program. Prizes will be awarded for the most books read and official book list sheets are available at the library.

Bank donates to P-T Community Education Foundation

The Penn-Trafford Community Education Foundation recently received a $5,000 donation from NexTier Bank.

“It’s been a challenging year for our foundation because we haven’t been able to hold fundraisers,” said Matthew Harris, Penn-Trafford superintendent and foundation president.

The money will be used for classroom improvements to directly benefit students, Harris said in a statement.

The foundation was established in 2009 by a group of administrators, teachers and other stakeholders in the school community. The foundation raises funds for educational and improvement projects in the district.
