Northern Tier Regional Library is hosting its annual chess tournament.

Northern Tier Regional Library is open Monday-Wednesday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Thursday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The bookmobile will be at the Pine Tree Shoppes in Wexford on Fridays from 12:30-2:45 p.m. and at Pine Community Center on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Chess tournament

Join the library for a friendly chess tournament at on March 11 at 10 a.m. Competition will be held on two levels: the Junior Division for grades K-4 and the Senior Division for grades 5-8. Stop by the library any time before the event to fill out a registration card or call us at 724-449-2665 to complete one over the phone. It is important that we have the participants’ names and grades before the event. Please arrive 15 minutes early and bring a chess set with you on the day of the tournament. We will provide snacks and certificates to all participants. Registration is free, but required.

Take-Home Crafts

Kids of all ages are invited to enjoy a simple, weekly take-home craft! Call or register online to reserve a supply kit that can be picked up on March 14 and enjoyed at home.

The Weekly Project

The Weekly Project features a variety of activities like cooking, crafting, art, and STEM. Each week will showcase a different project for children to work on with their families. Call or register online to reserve a supply kit that can be picked up on March 14 and enjoyed at home.

Robotics & Coding Club

Engage with a variety of tools to develop skills in robotics, coding and programming. This self-guided program is available on March 20 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. This is a drop-in program for children of all ages, but we ask for registration so we know you’re coming.

Natureology: Birds

Small to large, these feathered creatures eat more, breathe more, and know more than we ever thought possible. They’re smart, and even better, they’re the grandkids of dinosaurs. Learn more about the beautiful birds all around us with Tony Palermo at Natureology on March 14 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The program is for children of all ages, and registration is required.

Outdoor Egg Hunt

Join the library for an outdoor event on April 6 at 5 p.m. to search for eggs. Bring your basket and wear shoes comfortable for walking on grass or wet surfaces. We will hide eggs around the library’s grounds. This event is weather permitting, in case of heavy rain we will try to meet the following day, April 7 instead. For children of all ages and their families. Registration is required.
