Library board opening

The Township of Pine has a volunteer opportunity as a liaison on the Northern Tier Regional Library Board. Interested residents may email or send a letter of interest to: Township of Pine, 230 Pearce Mill Road, Wexford, PA 15090, Attn: Stephanie Olszewski.

Women’s Business Network meetings

The Women’s Business Network’s mission is to provide personal and professional resources to advance the presence of aspiring and successful businesswomen. Local area meetings are being conducted in a virtual format and are open to local women professionals and entrepreneurs.

During the meeting, each member gets a 30-second commercial to talk about their business, with one member presenting a spotlight on their business, and one presenting a Table Topic on a subject of value to the membership.

The Cranberry Chapter meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at 7:30 a.m. The next meeting is Sept. 17. For more information, contact Nancy Wood at 724-316-3427.

The Criders Corners Chapter meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at noon. The September meetings are Sept. 10 and 24. Guests are welcome to attend at no cost. For more information, contact Sherri at 412-760-9601.

Dean’s List

Luke Rowlands of Gibsonia was named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Edinboro University. To be named to the Dean’s List, students must maintain a quality point average of 3.4 or higher, complete a minimum of 12 semester hours of credit and receive no grade lower than a C in any course.

Students graduate from Edinboro University

Edinboro University celebrated the academic success of 626 students in the Class of 2020, following a semester of transition from in-person to online modalities because of covid-19.

Although the commencement ceremonies were postponed because of the pandemic, Edinboro President Guiyou Huang conferred bachelor’s and associate degrees upon 490 undergraduates and master’s degrees and post-graduate certificates upon 136 graduate students.

The following local graduates were recognized as members of the class of 2020:

• Luke Rowlands of Gibsonia earned a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice

• Jason Gildon of Wexford earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in applied media arts

• Ashley Stein of Wexford earned a Master of Education in reading
