St. Barnabas 5K
St. Barnabas Charities will host the 32nd Annual Free Care 5K presented by Paracca Interiors Flooring America on Aug. 5. The race will begin at 9 a.m. at the St. Barnabas Gibsonia campus on Meridian Road. Proceeds support the St. Barnabas Free Care Fund, which affords $6 million in care to patients and residents every year.
Competitive and amateur runners, joggers, walkers, teams, stroller pushers and wheelchair racers of all ages will enjoy a rolling 3.1 mile out and back course. Please no pets, smoking or inline skates. The Free Care 5K also features ChampionChip Timing, elite runners #1-200, start line corral, USA Track & Field certification, as well as medals awarded for all ages.
A post-race party will be held after the race featuring raffle prizes, food and the awards ceremony.
Registration is $30 per person before Aug. 5 and $35 per person on race day. Register before July 14 to be guaranteed a race t-shirt and runner’s bag.

Horse Veterinarian Mini Camp
Horse Veterinarian Mini Camp is a fun chance for kids to learn about horses. Each child will receive their own plush horse. They will learn the anatomy and maintenance of a horse, basic horse nutrition, riding styles, key responsibilities of an equine veterinarian and more through fun games and crafts. The camp is for ages 5-10. It runs 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 7-9 at the Pine Community Center. Cost is $145 for PCC members and $160 for non-members. Enroll online at twp.pine.pa.us.
The Knight School Pittsburgh Chess Summer Camp
Chess summer camp is a one-week course from 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 14-18 at the Pine Community Center. In this program, kids will learn the basics of chess through games and silly videos. The summer camp is focused on fun and good sportsmanship primarily, and welcomes all chess players of all levels from ages 6-12. Kids will receive a green summer camp t-shirt and a Knight School Branded chess set. Cost is $230 for Pine Community Center and $245 for non-members. Enroll online at twp.pine.pa.us.
Hampton Presbyterian Church
Hampton Presbyterian Church’s Vacation Bible School runs 9 a.m.-noon July 17-21. Kids, aged 4 years old through those who’ve completed fifth grade, will experience God’s word as they make friends, sing songs, play games, create crafts and eat snacks. The theme name is “Stellar” as the kids will take an “out-of-this-world” journey by reinforcing relevant Bible points and immersing kids with new experiences.

From 4-8 p.m. July 22, the church is hosting its sixth annual car show. It is a free family-friendly fun event, displaying vintage vehicles with a concession stand and music by DJ Denny Dutko. All makes and models are welcome. T
he grill will be hot, the sodas will be cold, and the tunes will be spinning. Feel free to bring your own tables, chairs, and EZ-ups.

Flea market
A flea market will take place at Sts. Martha and Mary Parish at St. Richard Church Social Hall, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. July 14 and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. July 15, with a half-price sale 1-3 p.m. on July 15. The sale will continue after masses on July 16 until noon. There will be a huge selection of kitchen and dining items, jewelry, purses, books, toys, holiday and home decor and much more.
Hockey camp
Pine-Richland ice hockey camp for kids entering first through fifth grades will take place July 25-27. It will be led by Pine-Richland varsity ice hockey head coach Jordan Yoklic and middle school head coach Brian Smith. Varsity players will assist campers. Sessions will take place on ice at the Frozen Pond of Pittsburgh and off ice at Richland Park. Cost is $100 per player.

Kennywood tickets
Pine-Richland Band Boosters organization is selling Kennywood tickets as a fundraiser to support the Pine-Richland Marching Band. Is one of the largest fundraisers annually. The cost for a ticket to the P-R Kennywood day on Aug. 18 is $39.
Tickets for any other date are $44. Tickets purchased through the band are less expensive than tickets online or at the gate, which can be as much as $65.
Tickets may be purchased throughout the Kennywood season at NexTier Bank in Wexford, NexTier Bank in Gibsonia, and the Pine Township Community Center.
