Nonfiction book discussion

The Earth teems with sights and textures, sounds and vibrations, smells and tastes, electric and magnetic fields. But every kind of animal, including humans, is enclosed within its own unique sensory bubble, perceiving but a tiny sliver of our immense world. Discover what bees see in flowers, what songbirds hear in their tunes, and what dogs smell on the street. An Immense World tells stories of pivotal discoveries in the field, while looking ahead at the many mysteries that remain unsolved. Join us on May 23 at 1 p.m. for a discussion of “An Immense World: How Animal Senses Reveal The Hidden Realms Around Us” by Ed Yong.

Knit Lit

Knitters, crocheters and yarn art enthusiasts are welcome to the lower level in the Kemerer Reading Room on May 31 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. If you are working on a project, bring it along with you. The club will talk about life, books we’ve read and projects we’re never going to finish. Registration is required.
