Pine-Richland junior holds another successful coat drive to benefit NHCO
Kate Cwenar, a junior at Pine-Richland High School, has again held her annual coat drive. This is the third year she has organized it, and this year, more than 100 coats were collected.
The original idea came to her during a summer break several years ago. Cwenar was thinking of a way to give back to the community and came up with a coat drive. She designed a flyer and distributed it throughout her neighborhood asking the community to donate gently worn coats of all types and sizes so that they could be handed out to people in need.
The coat drive ran Sept. 17-Oct. 17.
The coats have been given to North Hills Community Outreach.
Next year, Cwenar’s goal is to surpass the number of coats collected in 2020.
