Pine-Richland Middle School eighth graders Max Kohser and Cameron Wincko took first place in the Stock Market Game this fall and were honored in May during a ceremony at Butler Community College. During the 10-week competition, Kohser and Wincko turned their initial $100,000 game dollars into $140,855.44, beating the S&P 500 by 30.6%.

Brian Kramer made the dean’s list for the spring 2023 semester at American International College. He is majoring in economics and finance.

John Carroll University’s College of Arts & Sciences presented academic awards to more than 230 students during the 2022-2023 academic year. Mary Evankovich received Golden Apple Award — Early Childhood; the Rev. Joseph O. Schell Ignation Award for Excellence in Education; and the Francis Ted Huck Award for Excellence in Education — Early Childhood. Nora McKee received 2023 - 2024 Russert Fellow.

William Harnick, a class of 2023 civil engineering major at York College of Pennsylvania, was named to the spring 2023 dean’s list.

Pine-Richland High School social studies and GATE teacher Cyndi Poole was awarded “Outstanding Teaching of American History” by the Daughters of the American Revolution. The award included a $50 monetary prize for the school library to purchase American history resources for students.

Hance Elementary was named to the High Honor Roll with Distinction in the Women for a Healthy Environment Healthy Schools PA Recognition Program.

Emily (Tyler) Jackson graduated with a bachelor of science in nursing degree and Brett Scheib graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry from the University of Mount Union.

Rebecca Schiavone, Lily Cunningham, Kathryn Lindauer and Natalie Sobel made the president’s list at Miami University for the spring 2023 semester. Mika Burmester, Noah Chmiel, John Morris, Mia Baker, Marisa Del Vecchio, Leah Hartzberg, Benjamin Lish, Dylan Beranek, Robert Leppert, Joe Petcash, Grady Colson and Maisy Wadlow made the dean’s list.

The following students made the dean’s list at Pennsylvania Western University for the spring 2023 semester: Jack Hutchinson, Austin Radomski, Marleen Meyer, Alexa Burrell, Angelo Rotellini, Erika Bergstresser, Shelby Zahn-Huber, Anastasia Lestina, Gabriela Ranallo, Brianna Towers, Cameron Fletcher, Holly Dougherty, Madior Seye, Chloe Blashford, Savannah Schultis, Will Meyer, Joshua Probst, Jacob Domer, Jamie Lappe, Aidan Waybright, Ruth Madden, David Bollinger, Sarah Stevens, Elizabeth Stokes, Emily Kozlowski and Reilly McDonald.

Zachary Harrington has been named to the president’s list at James Madison University for the spring 2023 semester. Harrington is majoring in mathematics.
