Richland Township will hold a public meeting on Aug. 27 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the municipal building for residents to learn more about the proposed recommendations outlined in the Active Transportation Plan.
The upcoming meeting is to gather public input and answer questions the public may have about proposed bicycle and pedestrian recommendations. The board of supervisors have not yet adopted the plan and want to ensure the public has a chance to review before its adoption.
The township received $45,000 from the Active Allegheny Grant Program to create the plan.
AAGP provides financial assistance to municipalities, non-profit organizations and councils of governments to develop community plans and design transportation projects that will provide bicycle and pedestrian connections to critical local destinations and transportation systems, and increase residents’ opportunities for physical activity.
The board of supervisors accepted the proposal from consultant Pashek + MTR, Ltd to work with the active transportation plan steering committee at a May 2023 meeting.
After a series of meetings with the committee, public and stakeholder outreach, the active transportation plan of recommendations was created.
