Editor’s note: The Pine Creek Journal is publishing election previews with candidate interviews for contested municipal and school board races only. Previews for the school board and Pine supervisors races will run in upcoming issues.

According to the Allegheny County Office of Elections unofficial candidate list, in the Richland Board of Supervisors Race, Region 3 is uncontested with Republican George Allen being the only person on the ballot.

In Region 4, incumbent Raymond Kendrick faces newcomer Brian Fung. Both are Republicans vying for one spot on the ballot in November.

There are no Democrat candidates on the ballot in Region 4.

Raymond P. Kendrick

Party affiliation: Republican

Why did you decide to run for election? As a lifelong resident, I have always worked to make Richland someplace special, a place our residents are proud to call home. If elected, my goal is for the township government to continue to live within its financial means while meeting the service needs of the community. During my time in office, there has been only one tax increase in 25 years.

I graduated from Richland High School, as did my three daughters. I love Richland Township, and want to do everything I can to make it the best possible place for people to live and raise their families.

What is the biggest issue that needs to be addressed? I believe the biggest challenge facing Richland is to meet residents’ expectations while balancing the budget and maintaining a strong financial position.

Why should people vote for you? I believe my experience and integrity are my strongest assets. It has always been my goal to provide the community with high quality public services such as parks and recreation, roads and public safety. As an elected representative, I would never do anything to let the taxpayers of the township down.

Brian Fung

Party affiliation: Republican
