Pine officials are updating the township’s comprehensive plan and encourage residents, business owners and visitors to get involved in shaping the community’s future.
The township’s last comprehensive plan was adopted in 2016. As of December 2024, 56% of the projects from the 2016 plan (18 projects) are complete, 41% of the projects (13 projects) are in progress or are ongoing, and 3% of projects (one project) are not started or not moving forward.
A comprehensive plan is a long-term blueprint that guides decisions related to land use, transportation, parks and recreation, development and other community priorities over the next decade. Public input is a vital part of the process.
To engage with the community, Pine is hosting an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 in the Pine Community Center.
Attendees can learn more about the plan, ask questions and offer ideas about future priorities.
For those unable to attend, Pine also will offer several pop-up events at local gathering spots and township events.
The first pop-up event following the open house will be from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Nov. 6 during the Pittsburgh North Chamber of Commerce Senior Health Fair in the Pine Community Center.
To view the dates, times and locations of the pop-up events, visit the township’s comprehensive plan webpage at https://twp.pine.pa.us/562/Comprehensive-Plan.
In addition, residents and stakeholders are encouraged to participate in a series of online surveys, each available for a limited time.
To stay informed and involved throughout the planning process, community members are encouraged to visit the project website, sign up for updates and follow Pine Township on social media.
