The Pine-Richland School Board set Superintendent Brian Miller’s salary at $221,707.

The Pine-Richland School Board has approved a pay increase for Superintendent Brian Miller.

In finding that Miller had met performance standards for the 2024-25 academic year, the board set his salary at $221,707.

That’s a 2.5% increase from the $216,300 salary the board set for Miller in August 2024 when it had made the same finding on his performance for the 2023-24 academic year.

Under Miller’s current five-year contract, effective through June 30, 2027, a 2.5% salary increase is the minimum he can receive provided he is given an evaluation rating of proficient for the preceding year.

In both actions, the board also approved one-time contributions to a 403(b), which are retirement savings plans for public school employees.

According to the contract, the district makes an annual contribution into Miller’s 403(b) account equal to 2.5% of his current annual salary.

No board member commented before voting at the Sept. 15 meeting.

Miller has been superintendent of Pine-Richland since July 2013. The seventh superintendent of Pine-Richland, Miller replaced Mary Bucci.

Miller came to Pine-Richland from the North Allegheny School District, where he had been employed from 1996 to 2013, finishing as assistant superintendent of K-12 education. He also had served North Allegheny as assistant superintendent for secondary education and curriculum, assistant superintendent for curriculum, principal, assistant principal, teacher and coach.

Miller earned a bachelor of science in exercise and sport science from Penn State. With a master of science in educational leadership from Carlow University, he gained certification as a secondary and elementary principal.

In 2008, he completed the interdisciplinary doctoral program for educational leadership at Duquesne University, which included a superintendent letter of eligibility. He completed the master of business administration program at Carlow in July 2013.
