Two Pine-Richland High School ninth graders posted the highest scores among Pennsylvania residents in practical piano performance examinations administered by the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.

Tisha Joshi earned the distinction in Level 6, her third year in a row scoring the highest in the state. Abheek Tuladhar excelled in Level 4.

The conservatory has 10 levels of piano performance after the preparatory, or beginning, level.

The nationally standardized piano examination requires students to memorize three pieces of solo piano repertoire from different time periods, play technical requirements such as scales and etudes, and sight read. The exam also tests ear training.

Both Pine-Richland students received certificates of excellence from the conservatory for earning the highest score in Pennsylvania at their respective levels.
