Pine-Richland places in Healthy High School Challenge

Pine-Richland High School placed 13th out of 184 schools nationwide in the Sodexo Healthy High School Challenge, earning $1,000 for the high school student government.

Schools earned points for every meal combo and healthy a la carte items purchased.

Based in Gaithersburg, Md., Sodexo provides catering, facilities management and employee benefits to 80 million consumers daily in 45 countries.

Beattie students of month

Pine-Richland students named students of the month for December and January at A.W. Beattie Career Center included juniors Jessica Bui, culinary arts; Kye Hernandez, HVAC; and Kaleb Mathieu, sports medicine-rehab therapy and exercise sciences technology.

Also selected were sophomores Mason Meyers, robotics engineering technology, and Jackson Zang, automotive collision technology.

PMEA regional choir selections

Selected to the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Region 1 Choir following auditions were Pine-Richland High School seniors Chloe Chiang, Lumi Foster and Owen Russell; junior Mackenzie Mercuri; and sophomores Brooke Deegan, Sophia Priore and Kate Rickard.

The festival will be held March 6-8 at Mars Area High School. Sophia Priore earned top chair for her section.
