Summer may have a month yet to go, according to the calendar. But a symbolic end will arrive much sooner.

Pine-Richland School District will welcome the return of teachers and staff members on Aug. 19, and the first day for students is Aug. 22.

Between school years, the district published a more detailed curriculum on its website for parents to review. The district also has a new vision image that emphasizes students pursuing their path: all of the different avenues a student may follow after graduation and the resources Pine-Richland has available for students to explore various interests.

Marching band camp kicked off on Aug. 5 under the direction of Will Guess, the new music teacher for Pine-Richland’s high school and middle school. He was hired following the retirement of Brian Scott, longtime band leader.

For 2024-25, the district expanded safety personnel through additional Northern Regional Police Department school resource officers and also through school security officers, retired law enforcement officers who will be assigned to schools.

In addition, the district-employed social worker, school counselors and psychologists are being supplemented through an agreement with Glade Run Lutheran Services for optional school-based mental health services.

Over the summer, Pine-Richland Middle School underwent significant heating, ventilation and air conditioning upgrades. HVAC improvements at Richland and Wexford elementary schools are planned, as well.
