Christine Galket of Cranberry, who has been in business with Paws in the Sand Pet Treats, offers her products during Dog Day at the Splash Pad on Sept. 8 in Pine Community Park. She’s a big fan of the beach, by the way.

A well-attended summer for the Pine Community Park Splash Pad culminated with play time for pooches.

The township’s parks and recreation department organized the first-ever Dog Day at the fountain-filled facility, attracting plenty of people with their canines.

Although the temperature on the morning of Sept. 8 prompted some folks to wear jackets, the guests of honor didn’t seem to mind frolicking in the water and throughout the fenced-in area of the splash pad.

Other guests included volunteers for the Butler County Humane Society, plus vendors with products for pets and support for animal friends in general. Making sure everything went smoothly were parks and recreation staff members Tyler Walker, program manager, and Gina Kampi, program coordinator.
